My tasks for my first week

Tuesday, June 3, 2014 : The Assistant Manager, James West showed me around the hotel (The reception, lounge, dining room, kitchen, bar, museum, hall with billiards, hall for weddings or seminars...). I have read the rules of the hotel and to respect safety rules I also had to sign a few declarations to say I agree with the health and safety requirements and will act upon them when necessary. Then I went to work in the kitchen with Daisy and Irene I rid the tables, set the table, and wash the glasses and pitchers.

Wednesday, June 4, 2014 : I worked at the front desk receptionist with Miss Charlotte. She explained the operation of the reservations of hotel rooms. Must fill out a "Accommodation Booking Form" when the customer reserves a room (by phone or in direct contact with customers). I entered the information of a client that are written on the sheet "Accommodation Booking Form" in the computer software called ADS I learned to make booking confirmation emails. I learned how to record the day's mail in the book "post 2014". We write in this workbook page of the day "post in" by putting the recipient, the transmitter and the subject of this post. I bring customer orders in the kitchen. I distribute brochures at the hotel on the tables for a group of 40 people. I attended a presentation of the hotel for a group of people. Jane Bishop told the history of the hotel. It is a family hotel which has beautiful antiques. People then visit the museum of the hotel.

Thursday, June 5, 2014 : I will soon have to answer the phone. To do this, Charlotte told me what I must tell : “Hello Walpole Bay Hotel ……… Unfortunately I cannot help you as I am on work experience and my English is not very good. Can I please take your name and number and I will get Charlotte the receptionist to phone you back”.
I helped a little in the kitchen. I shine silverware it is called silver polishing, when you put the cutlery into boiling water with lemon and this shines the cutlery.
I entered the information of a client that are written on the sheet "Accommodation Booking Form”. I make a payment by credit card. I make payment confirmation in the computer software called ADS. And I send confirmation emails. I bring customer orders in the kitchen. I welcomed the guests of the hotel.


Friday, June 6, 2014 : I cut the prospectus of the hotel. I filed documents (Manager Daily report and analysis) in the workbook "End of Day". I classified invoices with purchase orders in the corresponding folder "Delivery Notes". I welcomed the guests of the hotel. I recorded the day's mail out in the book "post 2014". I bring customer orders in the kitchen.
